Rehearsal Schedule

All rehearsals will take place during regular class times.

We will not have an on-stage rehearsal the day of the show.

Please do your best to be to class each week on time.

Costume Care

• Costumes are included in your monthly performance fees and have been ordered.
• We will begin sending costumes home in March after we try them on in class.
• Please store your costumes in a safe place where they will not get damaged and there will not be any temptation to play in them! They are not to be worn prior to picture and show day.
• Some costumes may need to be steamed to release the wrinkles from skirting or tutus.
• Students ages 3-through level 1 classes will receive tights as part of their costume package. Older students will need to purchase tights. We will post required tights needed for classes soon.
• Dance costumes are not to be worn in public and do not eat or drink in them!
• No underwear! Tights are your underwear for dance costumes (and attire).
• Nail polish and jewelry are to be removed for uniformity and safety.

Hair & Make Up

It is important that dancers have the correct hair and make up for the performance.

Please make sure that hair and make up are done BEFORE coming to the theatre as dressing room space is limited.

Hair

Sparkle Sprouts, Hippety Hop and Glitter Gems: fix hair away from the face and use the hair accessory provided with the costume.

Ballet Classes: hair in a bun on the back of the head.

Jazz, Tap, Lyrical and Hip Hop Classes: Hair in a ponytail on the back of the head (to easily move from a bun to ponytail if needed).

Makeup

Some makeup helps faces to be seen under the bright stage lights. Lipstick (color stay so it stays on lips and does not get on costumes) and blush is recommended. Company dancers should wear full company makeup.

Recital Pictures

Picture schedule now available!

• Individual and class pictures will be taken at DAA the week of the recital, May 30-June 2. We are closed May 29th for Memorial Day.
  
• No regular classes will be held, but classes will have an opportunity to rehearse recital dances after pictures have been taken.
  
• Please note your picture time as it may not be at the same day or time as your regular class. Your picture time may be before or after normal class time.
• Picture packages are available for purchase online. Dancers will receive a code to view and purchase pictures following their class appointment.

Program Book Ads and Shout Outs

Dance Arts Academy will once again be creating a yearbook-style program book for the recital, and we need your help! We would love to showcase your business or dancer in our keepsake books! Every recital performer receives a book.

Ads may be from any business or private individual and may include a special message and photo for your dancer i.e. “Good Luck, Susie! Love, Mom and Dad.”

All ads are in full color!

Ads are due by April 10th.

Show Etiquette

Every dancer deserves an audience! Show length is about an hour, so please plan to stay for the entire performance. All dancers will return to the stage at the end of the show for the finale. Once dancers are dismissed and return to the dressing area, one family member may pick them up backstage.

Please have dancers ready and backstage 15-30 minutes prior to show time. Young dancers are encouraged to bring a quiet activity with them to keep busy while they wait their turn to dance on stage.
